Fiona Banner: The Bastard Word

In 2007, The Power Plant was pleased to present the first comprehensive exhibition by Fiona Banner in Canada. Banner's work, an investigation of language, looks at the representation of the body and war in film. For the exhibition, Banner presented an alphabet in neon and as drawings constructed out of fighter jet plane parts, a six-metre high wing of a jet standing upright, wall-text pieces, and a live performance piece. The catalogue includes an interview between the curator, Gregory Burke, and the artist, as well as a number of installation images from the exhibition at The Power Plant. To highlight the catalogue’s role as a document of the show, it is printed on newsprint.

This publication is a proud recipient of the 2007 OAAG Awards in the Design category.
