LECTURE
Mark Godfrey
Thursday 28 February | 6 pm
Newly appointed as Curator at Tate Modern, London, Mark Godfrey is the author of Abstraction and the Holocaust (Yale University Press, 2007) and a frequent contributor to Artforum, OCTOBER, and frieze. Recent publications include essays on Tacita Dean, Matthew Buckingham, Gerard Byrne, and Omer Fast. Forthcoming essays include pieces on Christopher Williams, Zoe Leonard and Pierre Huyghe. He curated the exhibition 'Matthew Buckingham: Play the Story' at Camden Arts Centre in London in 2007. He is working on an exhibition of work by Roni Horn for Tate Modern and a book on Alighiero E Boetti.
In this talk on Simon Starling's regenerated sculpture, Godfrey considers Starling's practice as a compelling response both to recent sculptural history and to contemporary object and material relations.
