In Between and Beyond: From Germany

The Fall 1989 exhibition In Between and Beyond: From Germany introduced Canadian audiences to a generation of artists from one of the western world’s most dynamic contexts of contemporary art-making. Curator Louise Dompierre included ten German artists who, with the exception of a few, had never been shown in North America, and whose work was selected, in large part, on the basis of careful consideration of its relevance for contemporary art in Canada, as well of the common concerns and interesting links between the two countries

This 138-page softcover exhibition catalogue features images of work by the many exhibiting artists, as well as an essay by curator Louise Dompierre, and text contributions from Friedrich Meschede and Ulrich Wilmes, Annelie Pohlen and Noemi Smolik.
