**The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery** is a leading public gallery devoted exclusively to the art of our time and is recognized as an important centre for contemporary art in North America and around the world. We are currently looking for a creative, motivated and organized **Learning and Engagement Coordinator** to develop and implement all aspects of Power Kids programs and learning materials, support public programs, as well as design and deliver outreach initiatives to increase group visits to the gallery.

- **Position Title:** Learning and Engagement Coordinator
- **Rate of Pay:** $26.00 per hour
- **Reporting To:** Curator of Programs and Outreach
- **Type of Employment:** Part-time, 21 hours per week. This is a bargaining unit position and a member of OPSEU

**Summary of Function**

The Learning and Engagement Coordinator develops and implements all aspects of The Power Plant’s Power Kids programs and learning materials including printed and online guides and conducts outreach to increase public engagement and group visits to The Power Plant. This role works with the Curatorial and Communications & Marketing departments to devise strategies to increase public engagement and group visits of K-12 students, post-secondary students, and community groups of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, with the added goal of generating revenue.

**Power Kids at The Power Plant**

Power Kids is a series of free creative workshops for children aged 7–12, led by skilled and dynamic artist-educators and inspired by our current exhibitions. Power Kids takes place on select Sundays throughout our exhibition seasons and includes a guided tour in or outside the gallery followed by a short creative activity. Each workshop is different, so kids can return throughout the season and be inspired every time.

- Develop plans and timelines for each exhibition season (Spring/Summer, Fall/Winter) totaling approximately 18 on-site Power Kids programs per year, plus additional on-and off-site programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues from the Curatorial team to develop activities for participants to experiment with media, techniques, and ideas evident in works of art exhibited at The Power Plant.
- Acquire and maintain art materials/supplies inventory.
- Set-up and deliver programs to children and families onsite, off-site at program partner locations, and online through Zoom.
- Track all program expenses to maintain the budget for each program, program season, and year.
- Maintain communication between the gallery and other community partners.
- Work with colleagues, primarily from the Curatorial and Marketing & Communications teams, to devise strategies to increase public engagement and group visits for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Conduct outreach to staff at K-12 schools, postsecondary educational institutions, and community groups/organizations to build and maintain relationships.
- Coordinate with in-house and external editors, graphic designers, and printers.
- Collaborate with Curator of Programs and Outreach in supporting the Development team for grant reporting (to assure current stakeholders that program goals are being met) and grant writing (to secure additional/future funding).

Duties

- Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, art education, or related discipline.
- A minimum of two years of administrative experience in an arts organization, preferably a non-profit.
- Experience in gallery or museum educational programming and understanding of contemporary visual arts.
- Ability to organize and plan multiple and simultaneous activities and perform under pressure and to various deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal relations, including effective verbal communication and effective written communication skills.
- Creative experience in developing and delivering original, thought-provoking hands-on activities for children and adults alike.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Technical aptitude for computers and other office equipment/systems.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Training (renew as needed).
- Vulnerable Sector Screening from local law enforcement (renew as needed).
- Knowledge of language(s) other than English is considered an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. All international applicants must have a valid employment Visa authorizing their ability to work in Canada on a full-time, ongoing basis.

- **Position Title:** Senior Manager, Marketing, Communications and Visitor Experience
- **Compensation:** $85,000-$95,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package
- **Reporting To:** CEO
- **Direct Reports:** Assistant Manager, Marketing & Communications and Assistant Manager, Visitor Experience
- **Type of Employment:** Full-time, permanent

**Summary of Function**

This position develops and leads the implementation of the gallery’s Marketing, Communication and Visitor Experience strategies contributing to The Power Plant’s role as one of Canada’s leading contemporary art galleries that is also recognized internationally as a centre of excellence in visual arts and culture.

- Develop and implement integrated branding, marketing, and communications strategies for The Power Plant and its programs, products, and services, ensuring the gallery’s vision, values, and initiatives are effectively promoted to diverse audiences and stakeholders nationally and internationally.
- Lead the development of written communications and institutional messaging materials, including executive leadership and Board remarks, gallery guides, press materials, marketing copy, and other audience-facing content that reflects The Power Plant’s voice and vision.
- Develop and lead a comprehensive Digital Media Strategy across social media, website, and electronic communications platforms, implementing initiatives that strengthen audience engagement and achieve organizational targets.
- Lead all press, influencer and public relations actions to promote the gallery’s brand development, the exhibitions and public programs, as well as all events linked with The Power Plant. Actively pitch and develop relationships with press across applicable verticals.
- Lead front of house design (FOH) and the visitor experience, developing the look and feel for the FOH and work alongside appropriate teams to design and implement changes that are aligned to TPP's vision and mandate.
- Oversee training and development of front-of-house staff as led by Assistant Manager, Visitor Experience, including basic safety and customer service training as well as introducing new ways of engaging and communicating with visitors.
- Develop and implement retail strategies, promotions, and communications to increase awareness and revenue for The Power Plant’s physical and online Shop, including the conception, design, and launch of new merchandise.
- Oversee the Shop’s visual identity and presentation across in-gallery and digital platforms, including visual merchandising and the creative development and rollout of Shop visuals.

- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with experience developing institutional messaging, marketing copy, press materials, executive remarks, and audience-facing communications that reflect a strong and consistent brand voice.
- Proven experience developing and implementing integrated marketing, communications, and digital media strategies, including social media, website management, audience engagement initiatives, and campaign analysis to achieve organizational goals.
- Strong public relations, media relations, and partnership development skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with press, influencers, sponsors, stakeholders, and diverse community audiences. Must possess excellent interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, with the ability to oversee visitor experience initiatives, retail and merchandising strategies, creative production, and cross-functional teams. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Knowledge of contemporary art, Canadian artists, international artists and trends.
- Knowledge and understanding of French and other languages is an asset.
