Antoni Muntadas (born in Barcelona, 1942) is a New York-based artist who addresses social, political and communications issues such as the relationship between public and private space within social frameworks, and investigates channels of information and the ways they may be used to censor or promulgate ideas. This pioneering conceptual artist’s projects are presented in different media such as photography, video, publications, the internet, installations, and urban interventions. Muntadas is currently Visiting Professor at the MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology in Cambridge, MA, and the Instituto Universitario de Arquitectura del Veneto, Venice. His work has been exhibited extensively around the world in solo and group exhibitions, including the recent retrospective Entre/Between at the Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid (2011–12), curated by Daina Augaitis, and the touring exhibition About Academia (2011).

Muntadas was the subject of a solo exhibition at The Power Plant in 1988, and we are pleased to welcome him back to speak in the context of our 25th anniversary programming.
