Art Collectors in Conversation
Collecting precious objects is a human urge dating back to the ancients in Babylonia, Egypt, China, India, Mesoamerica, Greece and Rome. But what compels people to collect art? How do they decide what to collect? And once they possess it, what do they do with it? This lively trio of conversations featuring Josh Heuman, The Power Plant's Curator of Education & Public Programs, with three different collectors of contemporary art.

On Saturday July 3, 2021 we are joined by presenters Hirbod Human and Farnoosh Talaee.

Hirbod Human is an art enthusiast and businessman who graduated from both business and art school after he migrated in 2002 to America. He owns a branding firm and consultant agency, TRIXMEDIA, based in Beverly Hills, California. He is part of a few boards of advisory of institutions such as The Power Plant, Toronto, Authors Ai, and Binge Book, Florida.

Farnoosh Talaee is an independent curator, arts manager, and writer based in Toronto. Her curatorial practice examines the intersections of contemporary art with migration, diasporic identity, and decolonization with an emphasis on art from the Mena region. She has contributed to curatorial research, exhibition management, and public programs at The Power Plant, Toronto; Museum of Contemporary Arts, Toronto; and Art Dubai, alongside some known commercial galleries.

This series, co-presented by the Toronto Outdoor/Online Art Fair and The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, is the 'next step' after a successful 2020 program, How Art Collecting Works -- featuring David Mirvish, Producer, Mirvish Productions, and Neil Brochu, Supervisor, Collections & Outreach for City of Toronto, Museums & Heritage Services -- archived HERE.
