North Gallery, The Power Plant
New York- and Cologne-based artist Christian Holstad, who is part of The Power Plant group exhibition Coming After, speaks about his work, which includes sculptural installation, collage, drawing, and textiles. With an affectionate camp sensitivity to the discarded and homespun, and an abiding interest in ideas of taste, class, desire, and queer aesthetics, Holstad is one of the most distinctive artists of his generation.
Holstad’s work has been included in recent solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami (2006), Daniel Reich Gallery, New York (2008, 2009–10), Galleria nazionale d’arte moderna, Rome (2009), and Galleria Civica del Comune di Modena, Italy (2009). Recent group exhibitions have taken place at the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo (2005), New Museum, New York (2007), Yokohama Triennale 3 (2008) and Saatchi Gallery, London (2009). His work is represented by Victoria Miro, London, and Massimo De Carlo, Milan.
