Elisabeth Vollert: Andrea Muñoz

Elisabeth Vollert is a curator and cultural producer of contemporary art projects developed in site-specific and social contexts. Based in Bogotá, Colombia, she is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of La Otra, arte contemporaneo, founded in 2007 as a platform to promote interdisciplinary practices, experimentation and investigation. Since its inception, La Otra has inhabited distinct locations of the city with the goal of dismantling the territorial, socio-political, economic and cultural barriers linked to civil life in these communities. As such, it has contributed to the revival of architectural icons and neighbourhoods, brought art and audiences to unconventional places and enabled public interaction with contemporary artistic practices.

Vollert will discuss La Otra Bienal as a vital platform for the contemporary art of Latin America and will consider art within the public sphere as an interactive meeting point in the urban imaginary by means of re-signification, appropriation and recuperation.
