Known as a producer of moving images, sounds, couture, and words, Hiba Ali delivers a performance-talk for The Power Plant's August 2021 Field Trip.

Hiba Ali

Hiba Aliresides in many time zones: Chicago, Toronto and Eugene. Born in Karachi, Pakistan, they belong to East African, South Asian, and Arab diasporas. Ali is an Assistant Professor of New Media Artist/ Feminist Discourse at the College of Design in the Art & Technology Program at the University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon. Currently, they are a PhD candidate in Cultural Studies at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. Ali's work has been presented in Austin, Berlin, Chicago, Detroit, Dubai, Istanbul, New York, Portland, São Paulo, Stockholm, Toronto, Vancouver, Vienna, and Windsor. They have written for Art Chicago, Art Dubai, C magazine, Medium's ZORA, Newcity Chicago, RTV, Topical Cream, THE SEEN, and The State.

Field Trip is an online platform to deliver arts experiences with some of Canada’s most celebrated artists in a national partnership with leading arts organizations. Launched during the pandemic, this platform promotes programs of all kinds for all ages, from children’s activities to artist talks and workshops. These activities are designed to advance the work of our nation’s organizations through digital platforms on a range of subjects that engage communities and support artists, particularly during challenging times.
