The Power Plant

Participants of this workshop will engage with the work on display in Beat Nation while exploring elements of First Nation contemporary culture and identity, as well as various facets of pop culture. A discussion focused on personal imagery will aid participants in developing their own unique design for a musical instrument. Using traditional techniques and found materials, children will make their own creative instrument and have a chance to participate in a group performance. Participants will have a finished instrument to take home.

For children ages 8–12 and their younger siblings and adult companions. Parents are expected to join their children in all activities.

Tours and workshops are led by artist-educator and Animateur at The Power Plant Anna Bouzina and her artist-educator assistant Marina Guglielmi.
