For the seventh year running, Power Talks presents influential art-world figures speaking in the context of the Art Toronto 2012 fair.

Nigel Prince is Executive Director of the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver. Prior to this he was Curator at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, where he was responsible for organizing solo exhibitions and publications with artists including Donald Judd, Olafur Eliasson, Martin Boyce, Shahzia Sikander, Ryan Gander, and Susan Philipsz. His 2009 exhibition of paintings and drawings by Cuban artist Carmen Herrera was critically heralded as the “discovery of the decade” by The Guardian/Observer in the UK and The New York Times. While at Ikon he helped launch many Canadian artists on to an international platform with their first museum shows.

Prince’s talk will reference recent curatorial projects as a means to outline the philosophical, thematic and practical direction he is bringing to the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver’s program.
