Paper-Pulp Quilt with Raoul Olou

Join us for a special hands-on workshop led by Toronto-based artist and educator Raoul Olou. Drawing inspiration from the exhibition’s use of pulp, organic materials, and participatory play, Olou will guide participants in the collective creation of a paper-pulp quilt. Through an introduction to papermaking techniques, participants will explore the process of working with freshly beaten pulp, learning how individual pulp sheets are formed and assembled into a collaborative artwork.
Whether you're new to artmaking or have lots of experience, we'd love to have you join us. All materials will be provided, just bring yourself! We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for hands-on artmaking.
Space is limited, and spots are expected to fill quickly. Registration is required. If you are unable to attend after registering, please let us know so we can release your spot to another participant.
R.O.I. Olou’s work is held in major public and private collections, including the City of Toronto, Canada Council Art Bank, Royal Bank of Canada Art Collection, and The Wedge Collection. Transforming memory, perception, and lived experience into living, tactile archives, Olou treats time as architectural rather than linear. Working across painting, performance, installation, film, animation, and public art, he creates immersive systems that make personal and collective histories tangible.
We are excited to offer this special workshop, valued at $85 per participant, at no cost to attendees thanks to the generous support of our program sponsors and partners.
