Sofía Hernández Cong Cuy: Fran Parente

Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy is Curator of Contemporary Art at the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, New York. Previously she served as Director of Museo Tamayo, Mexico City and was Artistic Director and Chief Curator of the 9th Bienal do Mercosul in Porto Alegre, Brazil (2013). She has held curatorial positions in New York at Art in General and Americas Society, and has curated exhibitions for Kadist Art Foundation, Paris; the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires; and the Centre for Contemporary Art in Vilnius Lithuania, among other places. She has worked closely on projects with anumber of artists including Allora & Calzadilla, Alejandro Cesarco, Mario García Torres, Andrea Geyer, Sharon Hayes and Judi Werthein. Originally from Mexico, she graduated from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College in 2000.

Hernández Chong Cuy will speak to her role in building the contemporary holdings of the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, one of the world’s foremost collections of art from Latin America.
