The Power Plant

Responding to the work of Bik Van der Pol, this workshop considers the impact of urban development on the natural world such as habitat loss and species extinction. Participants will create their own fictionalized creatures and imagine their ideal living environments. They will learn a broad range of sculptural building techniques to construct their own unique shadowbox ecosystems using various materials such as vinyl, fabric and cardboard as well as a variety of drawing materials. At the end of the workshop, kids will take their creations home.

Tours and workshops are led by artist-educator Anna Bouzina and assisted by Adrienne Costantino, TD Curator of Education and Outreach Fellow.

Please note: For children ages 8–12 and their younger siblings and adult companions. Caregivers are expected to join their children in all activities.
