Building the Block gives youth an opportunity to explore the colourful and uplifting world of text-based street art. Using LEGO youth will learn how this unique building material can be a powerful tool for public expression. Looking at how LEGO is used in contemporary street art, youth will learn how to create “tags” or words of hope for their community, which they can choose to display in their neighbourhood. Youth will also use LEGO to sculpturally re-imagine their community in the wake of rapidly changing cityscape.
