Make a Book
Sun Oct 23 2011
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Taking cues from Derek Sullivan’s interest in books evident in his commission and exhibition Albatross Omnibus, this workshop will explore contemporary approaches to book-making and teach kids to make their own unique and creative artists’ book. Using a variety of paper, books, magazines, and other found print media, as well as additional art-making materials, participants will learn the bookmaking process from beginning to end while playing with content and form: story, layout, type, and illustration. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a finished artists’ book of their own to take home. Parents are expected to join their children in all activities. Led by artist-educator and Animateur at The Power Plant, Anna Bouzina.
For children ages 8–12 and their adult companions.
