The Power Plant

While under hypnosis, Matt Mullican creates paintings and drawings by a character that he terms “that person.” Very different to Mullican’s everyday persona, “that person” is “a sensual, impulsive, almost hedonistic individual with a highly developed sense of humour and theatre, lying somewhere between schizophrenia and autism.” Part of Mullican’s exploration since the late 1970s into consciousness, brain chemistry and trance states, these performances relate to his exploration into links between information and perception. At The Power Plant Mullican collaborates with the hypnotist Dr. Clifford Passen, MD. The resulting drawing and video will be exhibited in Auto Emotion.
