The Power Plant

Looking at Carlos Amorales’ large-scale installation Black Cloud first, participants will learn about the universe of a moth. Discussion will focus on metamorphosis, during which participants will explore how this biological process of adaptation has been adapted conceptually by Amorales to transform architectural spaces, and how we can transform everyday objects and even ourselves! Participants will then learn and use ‘soft’ sculpture techniques to create a unique pair of wearable moth wings using materials such as wire, fabric, fabric paint and markers. At the end of the workshop, everyone will wear their moth wings and gather for a game of tag—like a swarm of moths—before fluttering home.
