The Power Plant

This workshop will engage participants critically as well as creatively, focusing on developing media literacy skills. Inspired by artist Omer Fast’s use of narrative and news media in his piece CNN Concatenated (2002), each participant will create a fictional news event by collaging found text from current newspapers and magazines, which will then be illustrated using found images from the same sources. These will then be shared with a partner in a short discussion; at the end, each participant can take their collage home.

For children ages 10 – 15 and their adult companions.
Tours and workshops are led by artist-educator and Animateur at The Power Plant Anna Bouzina and her artist-educator assistant Marina Guglielmi.
