The Lincoln Leapers: Jump Rope Demonstration

Sun Jan 21 – Sun Feb 04 2007

2:00 PM – 2:00 PM

In tandem with Luis Jacob’s artwork From Stream to Golden Stream, a suspended sculpture made from thirty taxidermied pigeons, youth skip rope team The Lincoln Leapers demonstrate its dizzying techniques. As Jacob explains, “Jumping is a form of taking flight that connects to a spirit of pleasurable and energetic enthusiasm, exuberance and joy. Linked by ropes to one another as they take flight, the team members become a representation of artist-initiated culture, one which AA Bronson characterized as being, ‘a Canadian story with elaborately Canadian characters dreaming the Canadian dream of one community, that is a network of communities, sea to sea.’”
