The Power Plant

This workshop will take its cues from the mysterious invented landscapes produced by the young artists included in To What Earth Does This Sweet Cold Belong? Learning to work with sculpture and mixed-media, participants will aim to invert the menacing implications of Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle’s sculpture Phantom Truck by creating a fictional Landscape Saving and Propagation Lab. Inspired by the unconventional use of materials, optical illusions and a mix of biology, geology, meteorology, and hydrology, the laboratory we construct will open up ways of imagining a sublime and beautiful world.

Led by artist and educator Olia Mishchenko, the workshop will begin with a gallery tour designed for young visitors by The Power Plant’s trained Animateurs.
